The clinical laboratory is the place where a multidisciplinary team made up of the clinical chemist, the clinical analyst, the doctor, the clinical pathologist, the laboratory technicians and the diagnostic and clinical analysis technicians analyze human biological samples that contribute to the study and disease prevention and make search and research available to human knowledge. The clinical laboratory is known as the clinical pathology laboratory and uses the methodologies of various disciplines such as biochemistry, also called clinical chemistry, hematology, immunology, and microbiology.

In the clinical laboratory, various biological samples are obtained and studied, such as blood, urine, feces, joint synovial fluid, cerebrospinal fluid, pharyngeal and vaginal exudates, among other types of samples.
